Apart from gorgeous palaces, forts and desert Rajasthan is also famous for forests and wildlife sanctuaries. Dense deciduous forests of Rajasthan house various rare species of animals and birds. These sanctuaries are the oasis in the Indian desert. There are number of wildlife sanctuaries and two national parks. Among them Gajner Wildlife Sanctuary is one.

Situated in the middle of green nature Gajner Wildlife Sanctuary is a small sanctuary. This sanctuary is enclosed by the hills and a serene lake. This setting made the sanctuary more beautiful. Gajner is located at the northwestern part of Rajasthan and it is only 32 km away from Bikaner. This sanctuary is well known for its rare collection of animals and trees. It was a precious hunting area of king of Bikaner. This wildlife sanctuary also includes Gajner Palace and Gajner Lake. The palace in pink sandstone and the lake inside the sanctuary also attract number of tourist. The natural beauty of Gajner Wildlife Sanctuary can mesmerize.

In Gajner Wildlife Sanctuary various kinds of wild animals live. Among them some are rare and unique. These are Indian Hares, Nilgai (Blue Bulls), Desert Foxes, Chinkaras, Black Bucks, Wild Boars, Deer and Antelopes etc. Gajner Lake draws number of birds from other countries along with the local birds. There are migratory birds like Imperial Sand Grouses. Generally these birds come during the winter season. You have a wonderful chance to see and take photographs this species of birds from Siberia. The local birds of Gajner Wildlife Sanctuary include Waterfowls, Indian Houbara Bustards and Demoiselle Cranes.

During your tour to Gajner Wildlife Sanctuary you can arrange for a Camel safari or jeep safari. This can make you wildlife tour more exciting. The sanctuary administrators provide you sightseeing tour and nature walk. September to March is the proper time to visit Gajner Wildlife Sanctuary.
