Palace on Wheels Itinerary 

Palace on Wheels Itinerary spans over 7 nights and 8 days. In these days it will cover Delhi - Jaipur - Jaisalmer - Jodhpur - Sawai Madhopur - Chittorgarh-Udaipur - Bharatpur - Agra destinations. The journey of Palace on Wheels will begin at Delhi cantonment Railway station and end at this spot only. On every Wednesday in the months of September to April, this luxury train starts its journey at Delhi station.

Day 01 - Wednesday - Delhi
The journey on Palace on Wheels will begin from Delhi. On the Delhi cantonment railway station after a traditional welcome you will board the train. The check in time is 4 pm. Around 8 pm you will be served with royal dinner in the royal ambience on this wonder train. After dinner you will head for a sound sleep and spend an overnight in the train.

Day 02 - Thursday - Jaipur
On this day you will reach the pink city of India called Jaipur. In this city you will receive a warm welcome with adorned elephants and Shehnai recitation. You will get half day in your hands to explore the beauty of this city. You will first visit the magnanimous Hawa Mahal or the Palace of Winds here. Then you will head for majestic Amber Fort on elephant's back. After this you can go for shopping jewelry, handicrafts, carpets blue pottery and textiles.

You will also enjoy a royal lunch at Rambagh Palace Hotel from where you will head for the largest observatory built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh called Jantar Mantar and City Palace. Once done with this you will return back to your train at 6.30 pm and start for Jaisalmer. Dinner will be provided onboard.

Day 03 - Friday - Jaisalmer
Now you will enter the Golden city of India. In this beautiful city you will be visiting famous Patwon ki haveli, Nathmalji ki haveli and Salim Singh ki haveli. Not only this, you will also get time for shopping at Rajasthali which is the only emporium of Rajasthan Govt. Here you can buy pattu shawls, mirror work and embroidered articles, wooden boxes, trinkets, silver jewelry and curios. As soon as you are done with shopping, you will go for lunch on the train itself. After this you will be taken for camel ride on the sand dunes of Sam. You will be provided dinner on the sand dunes. However, from here you will proceed for cultural program at a hotel in Jaisalmer. Later, retire back to the train to start for Jodhpur.

Day 04 - Saturday - Jodhpur
On this day in the morning, your luxury train will take you to Jodhpur. It is considered to be the largest city of Rajasthan. This city is well surrounded by high stonewall with seven gates and various fortresses. In this city you will be seeing Mehrangarh Fort, Moti Mahal, Sheesh Mahal, Phool Mahal, Sileh Khana and Daulat Khana. After this, you will be served your lunch at Umaid Bhawan Palace. Later, you will come back to your train Palace on Wheels and start for next destination.

Day 05 - Sunday - Sawai Madhopur and Chittorgarh
Your destination is Sawai Madhopur now. It is very close to famous Ranthambore National Park which is one of the best Tiger Reserves of India also. You will get a chance for safari. Here you will catch sights of tigers, chital, deer, monkeys and a wide range of exotic and colorful birds. You will also see the old Ranthambore Fort located in the center of the park. After all this, you will get back to your majestic train for heading towards next destination.

The same day you will leave for Chittorgarh or Chittor, the land of brave Rajputs. On your journey to Chittorgarh you will be served your lunch on board. After basking in the tasty lunch, you will be taken on a tour to Chittorgarh where you will visit Chittor fort, Kalika Mata Temple and Vijay Stambh or tower of victory.

On this day you will move from Chittorgarh to next destination. Dinner will be provided on board.

Day 06 -Monday - Udaipur
6th day again will be a day to head for another cultural and historical city of Rajasthan called Udaipur, the city of Lakes. After breakfast you will be transferred forth to sight seeing tour in Udaipur. You will see City Palace, Lake Pichola, Sahelion ki Bari, Jagdish temple, Rana Pratap memorial and Fateh Sagar Lake, Jag Niwas (Lake Palace) and the Jag Mandir. In Udaipur you will be taken for lunch at elegant Lake Palace Hotel. At the end of the day you will be taken back to your royal train for another destination. Dinner will be served in train.

Day 07 - Tuesday - Bharatpur and Agra
On the seventh day you will be arriving at Bharatpur first which is famous for the Keoladeo Ghana bird sanctuary or the Keoladeo Ghana National Park. In this bird sanctuary you will view 375 species of birds, numerous mammals and reptiles. You will take your breakfast at the Bharatpur Forest lodge and spend some time here. From here you will be taken to Fatehpur Sikri, a place with several monuments constructed in red sandstone. Here you will visit Buland Darwaza, the Panch Mahal and Jodha Bai's Palace. After a lunch, you will head for Agra. As soon as you reach Agra, you will be taken to Taj Mahal the renowned and beautiful edifice in Agra. You will also see Red fort, Itmad-Ud-Daulah's tomb and Akbar's tomb at Sikandara. At the end of the day you will be taken back to Palace on Wheels for dinner onboard and starting for Delhi.

Day 08 - Wednesday - Delhi
On this day you will reach Delhi Cantonment Railway station early in the morning. You will be provided with your breakfast on board and leave this train as the journey comes to an end with this.
